Today should have been Rik Mayall's 64th birthday. Unfortunately, the world lost him 8 years ago.

He, and his comedy partner Ade Edmondson, were almost entirely to blame for the shape of my sense of humour. I didn't know Rik, and I never met him, but I miss him as though he was a member of my family.

My late husband ADORED him in The Young Ones.

That's what I first saw him in. I was about 11 years old and it was repeated on TV. I was too young to understand most of it, but Rik and Ade were instantly seared into my personality :-)
